Hejj allihopa! Hur är läget? :)) I was in #Swed Hejj allihopa! Hur är läget? :))

I was in #Sweden last month, and you know what, I never thought that I would love the #Helsingborg city this much. 🤍

Who knows, maybe the unexpected appearance of the sun amid the winter cold gave us a lift in mood and brought us a sense of joy.☀️

Have you ever been to Helsingborg? Or maybe you are from Helsingborg? Let me know in the comments below. Maybe, next time I see you there :))

And I enjoy the process of making it. So, I wanted to show you a glimpse of me making it♥️

I'm curious what kind of coffee do you like to drink recently?
Easter in Swedish is called 'påsk'. This word act Easter in Swedish is called 'påsk'.
This word actually comes from the Hebrew word 'pesah' which means passing.

In Sweden, don't be suprised seeing cute little witches roaming the streets during Påsk.

Well, I used to be one of them😁 Dressed up as Easter witches, wearing colored headscarves with my red-painted cheeks...I was wandering around the neighborhood hoping to get some sweets 😁

And then, there was the egg hunting...
Searching for the eggs, following clues and solving riddles until we found our prizes.

Great memories...😊

Firar da påsk?
Do you celebrate Easter?
Say My Name! Said Beyoncé once. However, she is Say My Name!

Said Beyoncé once.

However, she is not the only one who wants to be addressed by name

Swedish people never use formal titles like Mr, Mrs, or Miss

Whether you are talking to a doctor, teacher, plumber, congressman, boss…

Everyone call each other by their first name

Gotta get used to that;)

The only time I can think of when a Swede uses titles is when he/she talks to the king. So if you ever meet him, prepare an “Ers Majestät” 😁

Does addressing people by their first name sound weird to you?
PROS And CONS of Living in Sweden 🇸🇪 •Gre PROS And CONS of Living in Sweden 🇸🇪

•Great work-life balance: Sweden’s flexible approach to working hours is one reason it was ranked best in the world for work-life balance in a recent HSBC survey.

•Paid Maternity Leave: In Sweden, parents are entitled to 480 days of paid parental leave when a child is born or adopted.

•Fika Culture: My favorite Swedish tradition is Fika, which basically means coffee with some sweets break, holds a very important place in the daily lives of Swedes.

•Nearly everyone speaks perfect English! Did you know Swedes are ranked as one of the best English speakers around the world?

CONS

•The high cost of living:  The cost of living in Sweden is quite high, particularly in the capital city of Stockholm. The cost of living in Sweden is, on average, 8.93% higher than in the United States.

•Sweden’s cold and dark climate might not be suitable for everyone. You must be willing to transform into a Viking while living there.

•Lack of Housing: There is a lack of rental apartments in the bigger cities of Sweden, especially in Stockholm. No doubt, there is an absurd housing crisis.

•Swedes are a bit reserved and shy people. It takes a bit of time to get along and to be a friend of a Swede. One of the best ways to socialize with a Swede would be offering a ‘fika’. That will always break those ices. Give it a try.😉

♥️Lastly, just as there is no perfect relationship, job, a friend in the world, there is no perfect country to live in. Every country has its own pros and cons. At the end of the day, your prioritizations matter!
Its been almost 1 year since I left Brussels and r Its been almost 1 year since I left Brussels and returned back to Istanbul.

Since then, I was applying for jobs in Istanbul. As you can imagine, finding a job during the pandemic was extremely frustrating and annoying.

After a year of late nights, long applications forms, interviews and ignored emails, I am super happy to announce that tomorrow I will be starting my new job in a cybersecurity firm!

For the first time, I will be working in Turkey, but moreover, remotely!
And that excites me even more😁

(I just practicing to use more often the word 'exciting' over 'nervous' 😅
It works!)

To everyone who has helped, supported me and most importantly had faith in me over the last year: Thank You! 🙏🌸

Just a quick note: How cool is it that my new working day coincides with the International Women's Day?!

Happy International Women's Day! 💪
When was the last time you had a break? Having a When was the last time you had a break?

Having a proper coffee/tea break holds an important part of the everyday life of Swedes, so much so that they even coined a unique name for it: Fika

Fika is not just a regular coffee break that you quickly drink at your desk while answering that last email.

Fika is a mindful break where you take a step back from your hectic thoughts and enjoying the present moment while taking a sip from your cup of coffee or tea.

Fika also creates a great opportunity to get to know a new colleague from your workspace, catch up with your friends, and share some time with your loved ones.

Sweden is famous for maintaining a healthy work-life among worker, and they do believe you are never too busy for a fika.

Being busy is just a choice when you put aside what truly matters: our health, our relationships, and our happiness

As I am currently reading ‘Essentialism’ by Greg McKeown, I wanted to share this quote of him that articulates perfectly my thoughts in this manner:

“What if we stopped celebrating being busy as a measurement of importance? What if instead, we celebrated how much time we had spent listening, pondering, meditating, and enjoying time with the most important people in our lives?”
Literally me during the weekends. A weekend in loc Literally me during the weekends.
A weekend in lockdown...

The best Swedish word I can think of that describes perfectly the situation would be ‘tråkigt!’

'Tråkigt' means boring, but it is also been used to describe something bad, sad, unpleasant, or annoying.

Jag har tråkigt: I am bored.

Or when I tell you that the lockdown keeps continuing during the weekends in Istanbul, you can say:
‘Oj, vad tråkigt!'
This translate as ‘oh no, how annoying/sad’ or ‘oh, what a pain’.

❓Tell me, how are you doing?
Is it ‘ tråkigt’ where you live?
Or do you feel ‘ tråkigt’?

--------------🇹🇷----------------
